Half Pitch (4-3-3)

Key Objectives

Learn to attack in a 4-3-3 shape, recognising how to utilise overloads and when to penetrate v keep possession

 

Technical/Coaching Points

  • Right and left forwards to try and unbalance the four defenders by staying in wide areas

  • Fullbacks should look to overlap when wide midfield players dribble inside

  • One central midfield player should offer support to combine or create an overload in wide areas

Organisation

Blue team (attackers) set up with 2 fullbacks, 3 midfielders and 3 attackers

Yellow team (defenders) set up with GK, 4 defenders and 3 midfielders

 

How to play

Blue teams deep lying midfielder starts in possession and the blue team attempt to score in the big goal

If the defending team win the ball then they can try to score in the gates on the half way line marked out with cones.

 

Progression

If your players find this too easy or too difficult, you could progress the game in the following ways:

  • Increase/Reduce the overload
