Crossing Alley

Key Objectives

Wide players practice crossing with both feet, and strikers practice finishing from crosses

Technical/Coaching Points

  • Timing of the run from the striker

  • Quality of the cross from the wide player

  • Commitment to get something on the cross

Organisation

Set up the pitch with 2 goals

Mark out a channel down one side of the pitch

How to play

Wide player dribbles to the opposite side of the pitch and puts in a cross

The attacker uses realistic movements to get into the box and attempt to score

Once a cross has been made the next wide player dribbles in the opposite direct to cross with their other foot whilst the next attacker attempts to get on the end of it

Progression

If your plays find this too easy or too difficult, you could progress the game in the following ways:

  • Alter the distance between the wide channel and the goal

  • Add or remove defenders
