FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
-
No. You don’t need prior coaching experience.
Many of our coaches start with no formal background at all. What matters more is:
a positive attitude
reliability
willingness to learn
putting children first
The club supports new coaches with:
guidance from experienced coaches
access to FA courses where appropriate
clear session structures and expectations
You won’t be thrown in unprepared, and you won’t be expected to know everything on day one. Coaching is learned by doing, with support.
If you care about creating a positive environment and are open to developing your skills, experience is optional.
-
Yes. The club supports and pays for coaching courses, where appropriate.
We invest in our coaches because better-supported coaches create better experiences for players. Course support is usually linked to:
commitment to the club
the role you’re coaching in
applying learning back into sessions
We’re happy to invest in people who want to invest their time and energy into the club.
Details around specific courses, timelines, and expectations are discussed with coaches directly, so everyone’s clear before anything is booked.
-
Yes. All coaches are supported.
Support comes in a few practical forms:
guidance from experienced coaches
help with planning and structuring sessions
access to shared resources and club frameworks
ongoing advice as situations come up, not just at the start
-
As a coach, you’re expected to:
attend weekly training sessions
be available for matches where applicable
communicate reliably with players, parents, and the club
commit for a season, not just a few weeks
We understand people have jobs, families, and lives. That’s normal. What doesn’t work is:
regularly cancelling last minute
drifting in and out
disappearing when things get busy
Players rely on routine. Other coaches rely on you turning up. Consistency matters more than perfection.
If you can commit your time reliably and responsibly, we’ll support you.
